Cubs Half Term Newsletter
It’s been another exciting and activity-filled half term for our Cubs, with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, explore the outdoors and try something different.
Welcome Back!
We started the term with a Welcome Back evening, giving everyone the chance to settle back in after the Christmas break and warmly welcoming any new Cubs joining the pack. It was great to see everyone reconnect and ready for the adventures ahead.
Countryside Code
Our Countryside Code evening focused on helping Cubs understand how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. Through games and discussions, they learned about respecting wildlife, keeping to paths, taking litter home and being considerate to others when out and about. It was a great reminder of how we can all do our part to look after the environment.
Star Maps at Bentley Church
For our Star Maps evening, we first learned all about how to read and use star maps from Freya. The Cubs explored how constellations are identified and how star maps help us navigate the night sky. After this, we walked up to Bentley Church and used the church car park (not inside the church) as a safe, open space to observe the night sky. It was a fantastic experience being outdoors together, spotting constellations and putting our new knowledge into practice under the clear night sky.
Beekeeping Presentation
We were lucky to have a special presentation on beekeeping by Petersfield beekeepers association, where the Cubs learned all about the important role bees play in our environment. They discovered how honey is made, how hives are structured and why bees are so vital to our ecosystem. It was a fascinating and informative evening that sparked lots of great questions.
Brilliant Bricks – Space Lego Evening
To round off the half term, we welcomed a visitor from Brilliant Bricks for an exciting Lego building evening with a space theme. The Cubs used their creativity and teamwork to build a range of imaginative space-inspired creations. It was fantastic to see their problem-solving skills and creativity shine through.
The Cubs have also been very artistic this term, showing creativity and imagination across a number of our activities. It has been wonderful to see their ideas come to life and their confidence grow as they share their creations.
