Cub Scouts (8-10.5)

Cub Scouts is all about excitement, learning, adventure and having fun. Cubs get to take part in a very broad range of activities such as climbing, wide games, circus skills, camping, fire lighting; the list is endless.

Cub scouts is for boys and girls aged from 8 to 10.5 yrs. A typical cub pack is about 30 strong, with cubs grouped into “Sixes” with a leader, the “Sixer”, and a deputy, the “Seconder”. Our members get their first taste of independence at cub scouts, they do activities that begin developing their teamwork, listening and leadership skills all in a safe environment and of course while having fun!

The programme is jam packed full of exciting and interesting activities, from craft to tin can cooking, from games to cycle trips round the forest, so many more its hard to list them all.

Cubs get the chance to go camping on our annual Group camp, experiencing camping with their Cub friends, and getting to try many adventurous activities such as climbing, high ropes, assault courses, archery, rifle shooting, axe throwing and many more.

All of this does not go unrewarded, cubs earn activity and challenge badges for the activities they do and the skills they demonstrate. This encourages our members to take the experiences they have at cubs and grow them into interests, hobbies and passions. We hope all Cubs will achieve the highest accolade of their Chief Scout Silver Award.

We have a very inclusive environment, everyone is welcome. All our members have different strengths and we encourage them to learn from each other.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
