How much does it cost to join?
Nothing!!, but subscription fees are £30 a term for each child. Any additional events and camps will incur an additional cost.
Are girls allowed to join?
In 1990 when it became allowed at all ages, 2nd Bentley accepted the challenge and immediately opened up all Sections inviting girls to join. Currently 40% of 2nd Bentley Scouts are girls
Do I need to buy uniform?
Uniform is compulsory, but you don’t need to buy brand new. There is a selection of pre-owned uniform in the Scout Hut.
When will my child be invested?
Normally investitures take place after they have attended for four weeks.
What activities do the children take part in?
We offer a full and varied programme of activities at all ages. Please look at the Join pages for each section to see what we get up to, we also have a great selection of photos in the Gallery.

Do you go on Camps?
We have an annual group camp that is attended by all sections, typically in June for a weekend. The Scouts & Explorers hold a week long Summer camp. Backwoods camps are also a familiar part of the programme. There are also opportunities for Explorers to attend several International Trips.
Can parents join in?
The answer is, of course. The Scout group wouldn’t run without parent volunteers. Whether you can offer help occasionally, or would like to become a leader, please visit our Join page for more information.
Is there a Waiting List?
Each section holds a waiting list. Please refer to our Waiting List Policy. If you would like your child to be added to the waiting list please use our Join form.
My child has mobility difficulties – can they still join?
Scouting is inclusive, and we will do everything we can to accommodate any special needs. Please speak to us to discuss requirements for your child.
Are Leaders properly checked and trained?
All adult Leaders and Helpers are DBS checked, and have completed mandatory Safety, Safeguarding and First Response training. They will also complete a series of training modules during their time as a leader.

OSM is an online facility where you can access all details about your child, make payments, see the programme & events, and see all emails that have been sent to you.
