Beaver Scouts (6-8)

Beavers Scouts are the youngest section of the Scout Group. This is their first introduction to Scouting, and will give them the opportunity to experience some amazing activities and prepare them for their future Scouting journey.

Beavers is about friendship, teamwork and learning by having fun. Beavers are boys and girls aged 6 – 8 years old, and a typical evening includes a mix of games, discussions and badge work. Badges covering everything from camp crafts and science experiments to photography and sports, there really is something for everyone!

We encourage teamwork and developing communication skills in a welcoming environment. Beavers are presented with new opportunities all the time and learn not only from leaders but from each other. The skills gained in Beavers are used throughout young people’s time in Scouting and beyond.

The Beaver programme is full of a whole range of different activities. They will learn basic Scouting skills such as knots, compass, fire lighting, tent pitching. They will go on visits to Fire Stations, Farms, Churches, Pet shops and many more. They will take part in activities with other local Beaver Groups, make new friends and learn how to work as part of a team.

As part of our Annual Group Camp, the Beavers will have the opportunity to take part in our “Family Camp”, which for some will be their first time.

All of the above helps the Beavers to work towards the vast range of badges available to them, with the ultimate goal of achieving the highest award, the Chief Scout Bronze Award.
