Scouts (10.5-14)

Scouts is about fun, challenges and adventure. We cover ages 10 ½ -14 years and meet every Friday evening during term time to take part in a wide variety of activities, games and pursuits.

One week you can find us lighting fires, cooking sausages and possibly burning fingers, the next we could be getting creative learning about teamwork, leadership styles and command challenges.

We foster a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and like to listen and learn from each other. Scouting is all about being outdoors and we try to spend as much time as possible in the nearby forests or on the grounds of our Scout Hut, lighting fires or pioneering catapults.

We go away camping twice a year, once as part of our Group camp, where the Scouts will have the opportunity to take part in various activities including rafting, archery, climbing, zip-wires and much more. This is just a taster in preparation for our week long summer camp. During summer camp, Scouts will be divided into teams, camping and cooking for themselves. Numerous activities will be laid on for them, kayaking dragon boating, abseiling, team challenges, days out, the list is endless.

As with the other sections badge work is another important element of the Scout group. By the time they reach Scouts they will have already achieved numerous badges in the other sections, and this continues to get progressively harder and more challenging. The ultimate aim is to achieve the Chief Scouts Gold Award.

Age Range: 10 ½ – 14

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
